The ‘IF’ Program is dedicated to assisting underserved young men in the Jackson County Family Court system and any deserving young man in our local communities in the Kansas City area. Through individual encouragement, we will strive to improve critical thinking, decision-making, personal development, growth, education, health, and the overall enjoyment of the lives of these young men.
The ‘IF’ Program will provide a mentoring relationship that provides equal concern for the academic achievements and overall humanity of each mentee. The mentor will be recognized and valued as a trusted friend, guide, role model, facilitator, sounding board, and advocate. The mentor and mentee both may learn and teach each other at different times and as a result, both may become beneficiaries of the relationship.

Each meeting starts with prayer, attendance, and announcements. Mentors will cover the planned curriculum and life skills activity. Once our learning session is concluded, we will take a break to eat and fellowship.
How can I become a mentor?
All prospective mentors will have to go through an application process that includes a background check. Once the background check is complete, each prospective mentor will need to attend a session to be certified as a mentor. These sessions are facilitated by the Jackson County Family Courts each Monday at 6 p.m. and every fourth Saturday at 6 p.m. If that is not conducive to your schedule, an individual session can be set up with Ms. Sonja Potter.
